Originally from one of the 7 important citadels of medieval Transylvania, STRĂJERII CETĂȚII BISTRIȚA bring back to life the atmosphere of the 15th century.
Passionate about days of old and thirsty for knowledge, we use historical sources to bring the beauties of the 15th century as close as possible to the people of the present.
The group, that first got together in 2008, has become a Non-Governmental Organization at the end of 2012.
We strive to recreate equipment, clothing, fighting techniques and crafts as accurately as possible, combating that fantasy "medieval" image that is still being promoted, where any guy dressed in leather is a knight and any girl dressed in a fantasy dress is suddenly a princess or a court lady.
Having enthusiastic and perseverant members, the group is aiming to offer the wide public a more precise and realistic overview on the life from 6 centuries ago, from fighting techniques, craft workshops all the way to specific dances.
Helped by friends and history professors, as well as museums, we, Străjerii Cetății Bistrița, will give all that we can to delight you and spark your interest about the history of our beautiful medieval city - Bistrița, Bestercze, Bistritz - as well as the beautiful Transylvania area.
